Cocoa Butter Cashmere: Inspired by Dr. Matilda Evans
Growing up, we always put cocoa butter on our scars and scrapes; it is a warm fragrance that many people associate with healing. In light of the many people that Dr. Evans healed, this scent is inspired by her.
- Evans graduated from Oberlin College and the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania. -After receiving her M.D., Dr. Evans returned to South Carolina and established the first black hospital in the city of Columbia.
-As the first African-American woman with a medical license in South Carolina, Dr. Evans created clinics where black children received free vaccinations and treatment.
-Dr. Evans also started starting a weekly newspaper entitled "The Negro Health Journal of South Carolina," and worked as the vice president of the National Medical Association.
