Our Story
Midterm Candles Company was founded by Amber Mackey in November 2020. As a PhD student and teacher, Amber was frustrated by the lack of diversity within the curriculum. She created her business, Midterm Candles LLC, to provide affordable candles while teaching about historic wom
en of color and their achievements. Through circulating these candles Amber hopes to share information about hidden historical figures while filling your home with comforting fragrances.
Our Values
Midterm Candles was founded with three core values: education, empowerment, and sustainability.
Education: Our signature line of candles features Black, Latinx, and Indigenous women who should be tested on Midterms.
Empowerment: Each candle comes with a card that provides an overview of their achievements and struggles. By humanizing these figures we aim to show that even our heroes faced countless hurdles.
Sustainability: We only sell fragrances that are phthalate-free. This means that they are comparatively better for the environment and our consumers.
