Harriet Robinson Scott was a woman who fought back against systemic injustices and cruelty. Her character warrants a lasting, powerful scent. This blend of pine and mint is inspired by the perseverance of Harriet Robinson Scott. This scent comes is available with our pillar candles or available in 3 container sizes: 8 oz (metal lid), 5 oz (wooden lid), or 2 oz (no lid).

-Harriet Robinson Scott sued for her own freedom and the freedom of her two enslaved daughters. Her husband, Dred Scott, also filed a freedom suit, arguing for his freedom. Their cases were combined and are known as Scott v. Sandford (1857).

-After 11 years of appeals, the Scott family made it to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court ruled that Harriet and Dred Scott were not citizens, forcing them back into slavery. The Scott family did not win their case, but the ruling sparked outrage that contributed to the Civil War.

-While the family was freed shortly after the ruling, their battles did not end. Harriet Scott remained vigilant and dissuaded her husband from participating in abolitionist tours across states due to fear that he would be kidnapped and sold back into slavery.
